Are We Losing Touch With the Truth?

Proverbs tells us: Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.
Whether it's misinformation, political correctness, fear of reprisal, "forced tolerance," situational ethics, Jewish tradition or feel good mega churchianity, for which I now have a Scriptural term: Corinthianity, we as a society are losing touch with truth in general, because we are choosing to "turn it loose," and we are paying dearly for what we are buying . . . We record events digitally and instantly, and although it will be retained somewhere forever in cyberspace, that is no indication, after replacing our latest techno gadget, we will ever see that photo or accurately recollect that event again.

I began to see this taking place as the "binding and loosening" Scripture began to be common place in deliverance and healing meetings, which of course have now become common place, as well. In a secular society, which we are, when the religious folks choose to lose touch with the truth, the society in general doesn't have a prayer, literally.

Knowing the truth and walking in the truth are two different things, entirely. He who the Son sets free is free indeed. We are set free in "putting our hand in the hand of man from Galilee . . ." but we're supposed to continue walking with him. So often when we feel free from the circumstances that caused us to feel bound, many of us let go of that same hand that freed us, go back to our old ways, and begin to look at Messiah sort of like a bail bondsman, and prayer as our "one phone call." Sprung is not free. Bail is not freedom! Asking G-d for help through bad times is using and self-serving; not worshiping.

I've watched in my lifetime, the demise of our society, while evangelism boasts of hundreds and thousands who have "been saved" by joining in everything from invitations in stadiums to reciting the sinners prayer. I'm sure there have been some true seeking hearts, but I know for an absolute fact, they literally get sent right back to where they came from. We have become a nation of people who chooses to call what we believe, truth, and discount anything that would disagree with our view. Truth is not being closed to new information, but truth is not built on a false foundation. Many do not know the difference between an emotional experience and a spiritual awakening.

The truth is, we claim a lot of things other than Messiah has given us freedom. Many see the Statue of Liberty as the symbol of freedom, rather than the cross. I mean no disrespect to our Veterans in this next statement. Many, many in our country believe it is our military protecting us rather than the G-d of Israel. Another truly sad truth is we now hold opinions and interpretations to be truth. Surely, our political system and religious divisions bear proof that just because we cling to a belief, does not make it truth. By the same token, disagreeing with an obvious fallacy does not insure we hold the truth, either. We could all be wrong!

For what if some did not believe? shall their unbelief make the faith of God without effect? G-d forbid: yea, let G-d be true, but every man a liar . . . Romans 3:3,4a

But the anointing which ye have received of Him abides in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.
I John 2:27 This is not to say be disagreeable and contentious, but rather seek YHWH G-d on all things. He cannot lie.
That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for G-d to lie, we might have a strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us: Hebrews 6:18

If we're not going to completely lose touch with the truth, we've got to seek the One who is true, and cling to His Word.
