Of course we know that Torah was given to Israel, but so many have chosen to use that as an excuse to cherry pick the commandments and to make excuses when it doesn't turn out as expected. Paul tells us in Galatians, there is neither Jew nor Gentile in Messiah, and in Romans, Paul penned of being grafted into Israel, so why the belief that Torah commandments are for the Jews? Where did that belief really come from? If the Chosen People have to follow the Instructions to be blessed, then why wouldn't anyone else?
It literally defies logic of any kind to claim a verse and a half out of the context of a lengthy chapter and say, "This applies to me, but none of the rest of it does!" The foundation of many false teachings is based upon taking a very small portion of Scripture out of context and elaborating by human opinion and effort.
The entire premise and promise are based upon a "lifestyle" not an isolated event or worse, a demand! We went past all these precious promises to go straight to that word, "treasure" in verse 12, and we missed so much.
The first ten verses of Deuteronomy promise abundance in the field, success in business, perpetuity in family and ongoing provision, and now here, victory in dealing with those who would rise up against us. I've heard the argument that this only applies to the land of Israel. To that I would suggest, then that verse 12 also only applies there. The reality is, this is to the people of G-d who keep His commandments. It's not at all about earning salvation and eternal life. This is about G-d's people here and now!
6.Blessed shalt thou be when thou comest in, and blessed shalt thou be when thou
goest out. 7.YHWH shall cause thine enemies that rise up against thee to be smitten
before thy face: they shall come out against thee one way, and flee before thee
seven ways. 8.YHWH shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all
that thou settest thine hand unto; and he shall bless thee in the land which YHWH thy Elohim giveth thee. 9.YHWH shall establish thee an holy people unto Himself, as He hath sworn unto
thee, if thou shalt keep the commandments of YHWH thy Elohim, and walk in His
ways. 10.And all people of the earth shall see that thou art called by the Name of YHWH; and they shall be afraid of thee. Deuteronomy 28: 6-10
For those with eyes to see and ears to hear, there is still time for repentance and obedience . . .
