YHWH got absolutely personal and perpetual in this next promise. He promises children, bountiful reproducing produce, expanded herds, and for those in town, a promise of sustainable profitable inventory! Now that's not all this prosperity mess you've been hearing, it's real and tangible. Money is not mentioned at all; not even precious metals.
Blessed shall be the fruit of thy body, and the fruit of thy ground, and the
fruit of thy cattle, the increase of thy kine, and the flocks of thy sheep. Blessed shall be thy basket and thy store. Deuteronomy 28:4,5
So, as we look around and see fields full of thistles with no livestock, and downtowns deteriorating to Pawn Shops, while malls stand like empty ghost towns, where is this promise? Where is our perpetuity? Living in the Ozarks, I am always saddened by the shuttered stores that used to retail and represent a forgotten piece of Americana. I remember as a kid, coming the Ozarks was big fun. That was when the only Theme Parks were Disney Land and Six Flags over Texas. Before adrenaline addiction became synonymous with fun, there was a time and place called Fall Festival at Silver Dollar City.
I still remember the man who raised the cane grasses that produce sorghum. He'd have his mule or donkey going around in a circle, driving some sort of contraption, to press out the sorghum. I remember the corn shucker and grinding mills. The men who carved, the blacksmiths, the gunsmiths, the women making soap and cheese. Home brewed Sarsaparilla was the beverage of choice, and the craft shops were full of hand made merchandise and interested shoppers. I'm not suggesting Deuteronomy 28:4,5 demands a return to those days, but whether it was town or country, this blessing is in our productivity.
YHWH didn't lead me back to the Ozarks to live a difficult life of antiquated sentiment, not at all, but one He could bless with perpetuity. It was clear to see in the 90's, that Prosperity Teaching was a dead-end Ponzi style, pyramid. As we talk about the blessings of YHWH, what are we doing that He can multiply and bless. I wasn't walking with YHWH in my early adult years and I was not blessed in the area of child bearing, or gardening, and I remember trying to make deals to raise organic beef, that never came to fruition. All of the town jobs I had were hard work, and I wasn't blessed in those either, but . . .
From the time I met YHWH and began following His Son, it all changed. Money wasn't the issue. I was blessed with more than enough provision. Within 3 years, I was facilitating a youth ministry, and although they were not fruit of my body, they were the next generation. Everyone was simply amazed at the way fruit and produce grew at the Mission. I was able to share abundantly with all those who would receive! I also had a wonderfully blessed natural health and reflexology practice. The herds and flocks didn't come until after the relocation, as well as ministry expansion and yet another business. Even my writing has increased.
This promise in Deuteronomy 28 is an amazing economic principle, that is not based upon currency. Money can only be horded or circulated and being entertained or thrill seeking has nothing that can be perpetuated, except the insatiable need for more. We are each going to have different blessings of perpetuity, according to His individual plan for our life, but we must produce something or offer a service that is needed so He can expand the coverage.
