Seems the past 20 years, there's quite a number of folk who claim to hear G-d, while those who are seeking are often struggling to hear or even doubting that they can. First, Y'hshuwah said His sheep could hear His voice, so if you are a believer and you are seeking, please consider these next few things. I'm not going to write a dissertation or even a lengthy article about this, because my words are what a true seeker of YHWH needs to focus on.
First and foremost, don't judge yourself for not hearing, because that is the best way in the world to start focusing on self. Besides, and unrepentant Adam and Eve, and later Cain heard His voice just fine. Don't forget the prophet for profit in Numbers 22 also heard Him, so He doesn't just speak to the righteous. The first time I heard the voice of YHWH was a rebuke, and I recognized and acknowledged that I was deserving of the rebuke. After hearing the rebuke, I got in Scripture and read a passage that spoke personally to me. Remember He has spoken His Word and it stands forever. Once a passage has spoken to you, ask Him to please elaborate to you personally, but; be ready to obey.
The next thing I have learned and want to share is the fact that He does have things He wants to talk to each of us about, but we get busy telling Him what we think we need . . . Praise Him, Thank Him, then just "be still and know that He is G-d." So many times we say we want to hear Him, then our prayers don't give Him a chance to get a word in edge wise. Just spend quiet time in His presence. So often He speaks when we have thanked Him, praised Him, and are simply going about the task He has blessed us to do.
The last thing . . . See I promised this would be short. If you have ever heard Him or think you've heard Him, go back to that place and ask Him. Many folk claim to have not heard Him in a long time, and I ask, "Did you do the last thing you heard?" Go back where you heard Him or thought you heard Him . . . There is a passage in Chronicles that indicates He will meet us there.
Many denominations actually teach that we can't hear Him or that He no longer speaks, and that's just wrong. He does speak to His children, even those who are not His children, but the main thing is to be receptive. I've been amazed at the things our Heavenly Father wants to talk to me about, that I would have never thought to pray about. Be open to His leading the conversation. As a matter of fact, every time I hear His voice, the subject is a matter of His choosing, not mine.
Do you want to hear our Creator speak? Ask Him what He wants to talk about!
I need to be more diligent in seeking. I get too caught up in things that don't really matter.
ReplyDeleteWhere is the passage in Chronicles you mentioned where HE will meet with us? I would like to read it. For I believe HE often speaks with me. But something HE spoke many, many years ago ( one that had an--- but it is for an appointed time wait for it--- attachedcame to mind as I read and well, I want more. And have asked for it but perhaps that text holds a clue for me.
