I receive quite a bit of flack about my belief that YHWH heals sans pharmaceuticals. I don't argue with or condemn those who disagree, which is obviously the majority of Americans, but I don't let anyone talk me out of my faith. I got a second chance, very undeserved, and I will not be tempting Adonai Elohim. [the LORD my G-d].
The folks that take issue with my beliefs actually express their belief from the exact opposite perspective. One woman asked me if I just ignore an injury or illness. I absolutely do not ignore problems. I can't ask for healing if I don't acknowledge the need. Another individual suggested that we have to do something. I said I pray, which apparently wasn't doing enough, because the standard response is, well, I do too. I don't want to harp on this topic, but I believe health care in this country is not health care at all, but rather a large part of the economy driven by pharmaceutical sales and unnecessary expensive tests.
What has actually inspired this title was the woman who compared my trusting YHWH to laying on railroad tracks . . . In all honesty it took me awhile to understand her metaphor. Her understanding of not seeking medical advice or taking medication would be comparable to laying on train tracks and asking G-d to not let the train run over you. It took me awhile to even understand that we were still in the same conversation. At some point in my silence, she must have determined she made her point, when I suddenly heard in my spirit, "No, that's not trusting, that's tempting."
I truly believe, if I were to turn back now and rely on mainstream health care, I would lose the health I walk in as a result of tempting my Creator. Walking into a hospital or doctor's office after all these years, for me, would be very much like laying on railroad tracks and expecting to be protected.
If one is not a believer, then by all means, they need help with their health care. Prayer is access to our Creator. He made us, there is no higher authority or greater wisdom in dealing with our health. There is more to His health plan, though, and it must be taken into consideration. There are dietary Instructions as well as a specific resting period. These are nonnegotiable in matters of physical health. Obviously most Americans have lived a rather damaging lifestyle with fast food, little exercise, etc. so we each need to listen to individual Instructions and He provides them through prayer, His voice, Scripture, and even natural health practitioners.
I'm not perfect by any means, but I do know He blesses obedience. If most of us are honest with ourselves, we know that many of our health issues are actually brought on by lifestyle and poor choices. Aligning our lives with Scripture is a far cry from doing nothing! In my case, it was big changes. Change to the point of Job's words: "Though He slay me, yet will I trust in him . . ." In my case, dying as I sought medical assistance puts the fear of G-d in me. I truly would not want to find myself standing before the Throne of Glory giving an account of why my last numbered day on earth was spent in fear of death.
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities:
the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Prophet of Holy Scripture
