Why Do We Settle For Less Than the Best?

Alternative modalities for maintaining health are "naturally" on the rise.  Mainstream health care is not only expensive, the Affordable Care Act is anything but affordable, and healthcare is down right scary!  Folks go into the hospital for a "simple procedure" and leave with staph or MRSA.  The list of potential side effects of pharmaceuticals can be worse than the problem for which they are prescribed.

The first paragraph of this CDC report is frightening.  It states that 99,000 people die annually from preventable infection associated with health care.  That is per year!  This figure does not include the number of individuals who survive the MRSA and staff with multiple rounds of antibiotics.  Forbes reports that "medical errors" now ranks as the third leading cause of death in America.  Only cancer and heart disease exceed the figures of death by medical error.  Forbes reports the death toll to exceed 100,000 annually, with the Journal of Patient Safety suggesting that figure is actually nearing a half million, over 400,000.

Why would a nation in which 80% of it's population name the Bible as a Sacred Book be so willing to take the statistical risks stated in the preceding paragraph?  Although the definition of "Bible reader" was rather superficial, those who claim to read it believe it should have more influence on our society.  According to the research of the American Bible Society only 12% of American households claim to not own a Bible.  That means Bibles are in 88% of households, with an average of 4 copies or translations.  John 3:16 was the most common verse mentioned and 65% of those polled claimed to give a lot of thought as to how the Bible might apply to your life.  The children of Israel tromping through the wilderness didn't measure up to these statistics of faith and we can read what they saw and experienced!

Why are we so unwilling to trust the Words of a Book so many claim to believe?  Why are we willing to place our faith in humanity, knowing what we know about the condition of the human heart?  Why do we accept these statistics and choose to place our faith in this system, anyway?  I know many will say, G-d uses this system.  Is there any Scriptural evidence that the perfect Creator of the universe would even operate with such a failure rate?

Most Bible believers do claim that Messiah is the Son of G-d, "The Word" in the flesh.  How do we reckon that claim with the words of the most famous verse of Scripture?  For G-d so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.  If we can believe in Him for everlasting life, can't we believe all the promises of healings contained in The Word?  If He needs help with our physical health, are we truly sure He can handle our spiritual well being?

But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.
Isaiah 53:5

But when Y'hshuah knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;  Matthew 12:15

And Y'hshuah went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion toward them, and he healed their sick.  Mark 14:14

And the whole multitude sought to touch him: for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.  Luke 6:19

And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of YHUH thy G-d, and wilt do that which is right in His sight, and wilt give ear to His commandments, and keep all His statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am YHUH that healeth thee.  Exodus 15:26
